Lands End to John O’Groats Cycle Updates

Saturday 16th September

LEJOG Day 14 (The final day of cycling) Crask to John O'Groats 82 miles.

"Amazing day & amazing weather."

Jane and her fellow cyclists safely made it to John O’Groats and have been blessed with 14 days of fantastic weather apart from one afternoon of thunderstorms. Also Jane didn't have a single puncture! Fantastic on both fronts

Today (Sunday) saw an early start as the coach left at 6.15am to head to the train station in Inverness. Jane's train is due to arrive in Reading later this evening and hopefully she'll have a bit of rest before joining us back at Rushall later this coming week.

Jane has done incredibly well in both her cycling and fundraising efforts. We are all amazed at her achievements. So far she has raised over £9.5k! There is still time to donate and help Jane hit her 10k target.

Friday 15th September

Inverness to Crask.

The penultimate day is complete. Almost there - just 82 miles to go tomorrow!

Jane and her fellow cyclists are still blessed with dry weather and I suspect very much appreciated the fewer hills today! They made good time and finished off with a well deserved drink!

Thank you for your continued support and sponsorship. Jane is well on the way to raising her 10k target having tipped over £9k today. If you are able to sponsor Jane, you can donate online by visiting: https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/23985#!/DonationDetails

We'll look forward to the John O'Groats arrival tomorrow

Thursday 14th September

Ballater to Inverness 73 miles. Spectacular but exhausting!

Tough day in the mountains to Lecht ski resort. Down the other side of the pass to the River Spey & on to Inverness.

Penultimate day tomorrow with a fractionally shorter cycle to The Crask before the big finale on Saturday with a lengthy stretch to the goal of John O'Groats.

Keep going Jane! Cheering you on every mile

Wednesday 13th September

Kinross to Ballater 83miles.

Jane said today was an amazing day! (This is what we like to hear)

Much cooler but still dry. They climbed up to a height of 2200 feet as they cycled through Perth & onwards up Glenshee - a ski resort! They then descended to Deeside passing Balmoral on the way.

Tuesday 12th September

Moffat to Kinross 82 miles.

"Cool but sunny as we cycled through the Scottish borders to Edinburgh & across the Forth Bridge"

What beautiful views in Scotland. The scenery on this epic cycle looks amazing. Maybe a good distraction when legs are feeling a bit tired. You can support Jane as she heads into the final few days of cycling by visiting:

Thank you to everyone who has supported Jane so far and for all the messages wishing her well

Monday 11th September

Penrith to Moffat 70 miles. Jane's made it to Scotland!

A less challenging day in terms of terrain & weather which I'm sure was very welcomed. Cooler & very little rain. Just as well as the remaining days will be very tough! A number of long cycling days to reach John O'Groats.

Well done Jane

Sunday 10th September

Lancaster to Penrith.

Perfect weather to start in the morning! Jane said it was a huge contrast to the heat they've been experiencing and was very welcome few degrees cooler! More stunning countryside and views in Cumbria.

The perfect morning however didn't last......."from 1pm onwards we had thunderstorms, hail & torrential rain! However, everything seems to have dried out well!"

Hopefully the cooler dry days are with them cycling for week two. Now that they are over half way, today (Monday) sees the route head into Scotland with some long stretches to come. Her fundraising target is getting closer and she's just a few pounds short of hitting the next thousand marker!

Saturday 9th September

A 72 mile stretch from Runcorn to Lancaster. What beautiful views in Lancashire! Almost half way (in miles) now.

Friday 8th September

Clun to Runcorn. At 80 miles it's been the longest cycling day yet! Passing through Shrewsbury and more of the beautiful countryside in Shropshire and Cheshire. At almost half way (in days!) Jane quite rightly rewarded her cycling efforts so far with a massage!

Today sees another lengthy stretch as they head over 70 miles to Lancaster.

Thinking of the team as they cycle today after a rather disturbed night's sleep with the fire alarm going off twice in the night & having to evacuate on one of the occasions.

I'm sure the refuel pit stops will be much needed and appreciated.

Thursday 7th September

Today's cycle was one of the shorter legs. 58 miles from Monmouth to Clun. It of course remains very hot but Jane said this stretch had fewer hills!

Wednesday 6th September

Jane has been sending us the most wonderful photos! A yellow morning in Glastonbury before heading to Wells. They've cycled over the Clifton Suspension Bridge and then the Severn Bridge into Wales. A refreshment stop at Tintern Abbey before the last stretch of the day to Monmouth. Some amazing sights along this journey so far.

Jane has said that the weather is glorious although very hot and trying to make sure they stay well hydrated!

Tuesday 5th September

Moretonhamstead to Street. Big climbs to start & then down to Exeter followed by some flatter terrain over the Somerset Levels. VERY hot!

A few hot days to contend with but the cycling continues for the 4th stretch of the route tomorrow.

Monday 4th September

"Wow, what a day! Cycled to Plymouth negotiating 2 ferries on the way. Then up & over Dartmoor with very strong cross winds. Amazing scenery & we made it!"

Well done Jane! On to day 3.

Sunday 3rd September

Jane started on her cycling journey this morning from Lands End making her way to the first stop over at Fowey. She described the first leg as beautiful and hilly!
